The Catalan Water Agency (ACA) has launched the tender for two alternative studies to reduce flood risk in eleven localities of the Terres de l'Ebre, aiming to protect the population and urban areas.

These reports, with a combined budget exceeding 300,000 euros, aim to propose technical solutions that enhance the safety of residents and urban spaces most vulnerable to extreme weather events. The results are expected to be available, at the latest, by mid-2027.
The first study will focus on the internal basins of the municipalities of Alcanar and la Ràpita. It will analyze three points that have historically presented flood risks: the barranc de les Forques, the barranc de Sant Jaume, and the barranc de Codonyol i Aljub/Suís. Proposed options include widening sections, creating lamination ponds, improving drainage points, and implementing environmental measures to strengthen the river corridor.
The second report will address shared basins in ten municipalities, including Santa Bàrbara, Ulldecona, Freginals, Roquetes, Amposta, Godall, Masdenverge, Tortosa, la Galera, and la Ràpita. This study will need to propose possible solutions such as widening and restoring riverbeds, improving and adapting drainage works, constructing lamination ponds, carrying out environmental and fluvial restoration actions, and implementing measures to reduce urban vulnerability.
