Tomàs's election, as the sole candidate presented, took place coinciding with the 95th anniversary of the proclamation of the Catalan Republic. This will mark the fourth time Tomàs has led the republican candidacy, having done so since the 2011 elections.
Since taking office as mayor in 2015 with an absolute majority of eleven councilors, Adam Tomàs has established himself as the first republican mayor of Amposta since the return to democracy. He expanded this majority to sixteen councilors in 2019 and revalidated it with eleven in 2023.
“"I present myself with all humility, but also with all enthusiasm and determination. This is a collective project."
The candidate expressed his confidence in being able to "stand up to the right and the far-right" and achieve a majority that will allow for the continued promotion of transformative policies and social progress in the city. He emphasized that Amposta is at a crucial juncture, with historical projects underway that need to be completed, and defended ERC's solidity, experience, and management capacity as a guarantee for their execution.
Adam Tomàs is an industrial engineer and a professor at the Institut Montsià d'Amposta. His political career began in 1999 on the ERC list, becoming a councilor in 2003. Currently, he also presides over the Montsià Comarcal Federation of ERC and is a member of the party's national executive, where he directs the Secretariat of Economy, Innovation, and Digital Policies.
