The Amposta City Council formalized an agreement this Tuesday, June 9, with the family of writer Sebastià Juan Arbó for the loan of a significant collection of family photographs.

The council will receive 406 photographs dated between 1920 and 1990, which will be integrated into the Arbó documentary fund preserved at the Municipal Archive. This material will be cataloged and digitized to ensure its conservation and facilitate public access, recognizing its significant historical and cultural value.
Mayor Adam Tomàs and Culture Councilor Inés Martí thanked the family for their trust. Martí highlighted that "These photographs will allow us to better understand both the figure of Sebastià Juan Arbó and the historical and social context of his time."
This incorporation reinforces the City Council's ongoing efforts to preserve the writer's legacy. Five years ago, the inventory of Arbó's documentary fund was completed, cataloging 543 documentary units, many donated by the family itself. The work was carried out by philologist Joan Antoni Forcadell with technical support.
The promotion and study of Arbó's work have continued with initiatives such as the 1st Congress dedicated to the writer and the research by Joan Antoni Forcadell, who received the 3rd Jordi Fontanet Award for the critical edition of a novel project and has overseen the re-edition of works like 'Totes les narracions del Delta'.
