Civil Protection activated the pre-alert phase of the Inuncat plan on Wednesday afternoon, sending an ES-Alert message to mobile phones in Montsià regarding rainfall that could exceed 20 liters per square meter in 30 minutes.

The alert was sent around 5:15 PM on Wednesday, warning of intense precipitation expected for the next two hours in the region, particularly in the municipality of Alcanar.
The message sent to mobile devices via the ES-Alert system is explicit in its recommendations: avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from flood-prone areas.
Furthermore, residents are urged to move to the upper floors of buildings if water begins to enter their homes and to contact the emergency number 112 only in the event of a critical situation.
This action followed the Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya (SMC) issuing an observation notice for rain intensity, indicating the possibility of exceeding 20 l/m² within half an hour.
