The police operation also led to the dismantling of a criminal group involved in hashish trafficking, operating from various points in Catalonia and maintaining connections with organizations in Andalusia. The operation unfolded in three phases between November 2025 and May 2026, resulting in 10 arrests (nine men and one woman aged between 24 and 52) and several raids in Sabadell, Ulldecona, and Fuengirola (Málaga).
The investigation began following a suspicious car accident involving gunshots in Ulldecona. A firearm was found inside. Simultaneously, officers detected an industrial warehouse containing a large quantity of metal boxes hiding hashish, which served as a logistics center, the largest found in Catalonia to date.
Suspecting a drug-related assault to steal the hashish, a police operation was launched, leading to the discovery of an crashed van and the arrest of four individuals. The investigation, overseen by Court of Instruction number 1 of Amposta, identified a criminal network specializing in the management, storage, and distribution of hashish.
The novel concealment method involved the use of custom-welded iron boxes to contain the hashish slabs. To open them, the intervention of the Generalitat Firefighters was required. It is estimated that at least twelve tons of hashish were stored at the logistics center, including 3,000 kilos already transported.
The final phase of the investigation, in May 2026, involved a simultaneous operation in Fuengirola, Sabadell, and Ulldecona, with the participation of the Policia Nacional in Andalusia, leading to the identification of new group members and the seizure of electronic equipment and phones.
