The Amposta Investigation Unit carried out the operation, which culminated in the arrest of a woman as the alleged perpetrator of crimes against public health and electricity fraud. The investigation began on April 14, after the Santa Bàrbara Municipal Watch Corps reported a possible incident in a local residence.
The watchmen detected a water leak and, upon attempting to contact the property's occupants, received no response. Officers dispatched to the scene observed signs suggesting illicit activity inside, such as completely boarded-up windows, operational ventilation systems, and a strong smell of marijuana.
These findings led the Amposta Investigation Unit to take charge of the case. Subsequent checks revealed very high and irregular electricity consumption at the property, as well as a lack of registered residents. With these indications, a judicial warrant for entry and search was requested.
The day after the authorization, officers accessed the home and discovered a marijuana plantation perfectly equipped for intensive indoor cultivation. During the search, 1,132 marijuana plants in an advanced state of growth and 1,085 grams of dried buds ready for distribution were seized.
The property was conditioned with ventilation, refrigeration, and lighting systems, and the electrical installations had been tampered with to ensure continuous operation of the plantation. Investigations also determined electricity fraud valued at nearly 40,000 euros. The property owner was arrested on April 21, and the investigation remains open, with further arrests not ruled out.
