The COPATE environmental consortium has unanimously approved the tender for expansion works at the Mas de Barberans waste treatment center to ensure regional capacity for the next fifteen years.

The project has a total budget of 6,673.394 euros and an expected execution timeframe of 13 months. This strategic move aims to increase the landfill's capacity by 811,448 tons, serving the Montsià and Baix Ebre regions.

"The expansion is essential to guarantee the continuity and safety of the public waste management service in Terres de l'Ebre."

Ivan Garcia · President of COPATE
The facility currently includes specialized plants for organic composting, leachate treatment, and solid waste pressing. Authorities expect to further extend the site's lifespan with the future implementation of a new treatment center.
