The Department of Territory has opened the tender for works to transform an eight-kilometer section of the C-12 highway, between Amposta and Vinallop, into a three-lane road for 21.6 million euros.

The project is part of the Generalitat's 2+1 Roads Program. This road model aims to minimize the risk of head-on collisions by installing a physical barrier between traffic directions and providing an alternating central lane for safe overtaking.
The works, which have an execution period of 26 months, are expected to begin next autumn. The plan ensures that 70% of the section will feature a third lane, while the Galera ravine area will maintain its current structure with a flow separator for now.
In addition to the road redesign, a new roundabout will be built at the TV-3443 intersection, and access to the Carrova area will be improved with LED lighting and acoustic screens to reduce noise impact.
