La Ràpita hosted the International Women's Meeting "The Hands That Sustain the World" on October 27th, an event promoted by ADR FADEMUR Catalunya to recognize women's role in the primary sector and foster alliances.

The meeting, organized by ADR FADEMUR Catalunya as part of the International Year of the Woman Farmer, gathered women from various fields and territories to exchange experiences and address challenges in the rural world. The Sixto Mir Auditorium in La Ràpita hosted a day of reflection, exchange, and recognition of women's essential role in the primary sector and village life, serving as a hub for creating alliances among women, organizations, and institutions.
The acting mayor and councilor of the La Ràpita City Council, Helena Queral, positively assessed the event, highlighting the creation of "complicities, alliances, and above all, a network," and emphasized that "women are key to the rural future of our country".
A central theme was the need to recognize the contribution of rural women and address inequalities in access to land, financing, training, and decision-making spaces. The Minister of Equality and Feminism of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Eva Menor Cantador, acknowledged the "essential and tireless work" of ADR FADEMUR Catalunya and stressed the importance of young girls seeing inspiring women in all fields.
The president of ADR FADEMUR Catalunya, Anna Martí, advocated for the visibility of rural women and the creation of connection spaces, highlighting the strength of alliances for mutual support. The entity's secretary, Diana Valimanya, thanked the collaborators.
The event underscored the need to recognize the work of rural women with more opportunities, resources, and decision-making power to ensure the future of the rural world. The meeting included a session on seeds, cultivated biodiversity, and rural knowledge by the Col·lectiu Eixarcolant.
