The town of Santa Bàrbara (Montsià) has suffered another flash flood due to intense rainfall, causing the Pelós ravine to overflow and forcing the mayor to demand immediate action.

Following a new episode of floods, residents of Santa Bàrbara and other affected towns in Montsià are immersed in collecting the debris generated by the latest climate catastrophe. This situation repeats periodically, highlighting the territory's vulnerability to intense rainfall.

"For a mayor to have to become an activist is not normal, but we have reached intolerable limits."

Josep Lluís Gimeno · Mayor of Santa Bàrbara
The mayor of Santa Bàrbara, Josep Lluís Gimeno, acknowledged in statements to 3Cat that the flood on the last Sunday was particularly severe. Frustration over the lack of structural solutions has led the mayor to adopt a critical stance, noting that the municipality's main concern before the floods was no longer just staying afloat.
Despite the devastation, the community of Santa Bàrbara maintains cultural activity, such as the presentation of the Local Culture Plan on October 21 and the 'Converses Periodístiques' talk series by La Plana Ràdio. Meanwhile, the region has also recently suffered a new failure in the telecommunications system and has started the 2025-2026 olive campaign for certified Fargues oil.
