Residents in the villages of Coll de Rat, Vilves, Tudela, and Serò, within the municipality of Artesa de Segre, are prohibited from consuming tap water for drinking or cooking due to high turbidity levels detected in the supply network.

The Artesa de Segre City Council has issued a warning to residents in four municipal centers after detecting turbidity levels in the network above the permitted limit. Mayor Francesc Puigpinós explained that the incident originated at the water intake point, directly affected by the heavy rainfall episode of the last few days.

"These villages draw water directly from the Segre river, and it passes from there to a reservoir. With the recent storms, the water comes out turbid and is not suitable for consumption."

The council noted that although they have a master plan for the municipal water network, the necessary works to prevent similar situations have not yet been executed. In this regard, Puigpinós stressed that modernizing the facilities and addressing the lack of investment in the villages' water network is a priority for the council this year, 2026.
The duration of the restrictions could not be specified, as the normalization of the service will depend directly on the condition of the water in the Segre river. Nevertheless, the mayor expressed confidence that this situation could be resolved "soon."
