The accident, which occurred at kilometer point 102, on the bridge of the bypass of this town in La Noguera region, is the first fatal traffic accident victim recorded in the Lleida province since the start of 2026. A pet (a dog) belonging to some of those involved also died in the collision, the causes of which are under investigation.

The impact involved a Toyota Proace vehicle, whose driver was killed, and a Porsche Cayenne. In addition to the fatality, two people sustained serious injuries and two minors suffered less serious injuries; all were transferred to the hospital.

The Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan Police) received the alert around 6:28 PM and activated four patrols. 10 units of the Bombers de la Generalitat (Firefighters) were also mobilized for extrication tasks, along with seven units from the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM).

The accident forced the closure of the C-14 road in both directions, diverting traffic through Artesa de Segre until the road reopened around 10:00 PM. Including this victim, a total of five people have lost their lives on Catalan roads this January, seven fewer than in the same month last year.
