The Paeria de Balaguer announced yesterday the full program for the Carnestoltes del Congre, which will fill the streets of the capital of La Noguera on February 14 and 15 with festive activities.

The events will begin on Saturday, February 14, in the Plaça del Pou with the traditional free tasting of conger eel stew (olla de congre), prepared by the Associació Dona Rural. In the afternoon, at 5:00 PM, the Riuada de Carnestoltes will start, featuring the concentration of floats, troupes, and costumes in the Plaça del Mercadal.
The parade, led by the Carnestoltes King and Queen, will travel through various streets of Balaguer until reaching the Molí de l’Esquerrà pavilion. A costume ball will be held there, featuring the performance of the group The Unicornio’s Lokos.
The costume contest will take place during the evening, which this year introduces the new category of troupe, in addition to the traditional categories of individual, couple, best float, and towed vehicle. The night will culminate with the Sarau del Congre, starting at 11:30 PM with concerts by Código 13 and Jet Lag, along with DJs Felipe Ye and Luara Bearka.
On Sunday, February 15, the celebration continues with the Matinal del Congre at 12:30 PM. This second parade will depart from Carrer Noguera Pallaresa and end at the Plaça del Mercadal, where there will be children's entertainment and the final awards ceremony, marking the end of the Carnival. Registration forms can be completed until February 12.
