The Balaguer City Council has launched an urgent call to fill the auditor position, which has been vacant for months and was being covered by provisional arrangements. The last person to hold the post has secured a position in another administration, prompting the council to seek a replacement through a provisional appointment or service commission while the role is permanently filled.
The auditor's role is crucial for the council's financial management, overseeing salary and invoice payments. Filling this position will allow for the progression of important initiatives such as the project to install cameras with license plate readers or the placement of more cages for pigeon capture.
The call for applications was published last Tuesday in the Official Provincial Gazette (BOP), with a five-business-day period for submitting applications, ending next Tuesday. The position is reserved for state-certified officials of category A1, with a monthly salary of 2,221 euros, prioritizing provisional appointments and full-time dedication to the Balaguer City Council.
According to municipal sources, the need to fill this position arises after the last call for applications, initiated at the end of 2025, again went unfilled. This difficulty in finding available professionals is a widespread issue affecting many local administrations in the Lleida region.
