Historic heat records broken in Noguera and Ponent during exceptional February

Eleven meteorological stations in Catalonia surpass their maximum records with temperatures reaching 23 degrees Celsius.

A total of eleven stations from the Xarxa d'Estacions Meteorològiques Automàtiques (XEMA) have broken or equaled their maximum temperature records for February in Catalonia this Wednesday.

The anomalous heat episode primarily affected the Ponent and inland regions. According to Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya (SMC) data, thermometers exceeded 20 degrees Celsius in areas such as Noguera, Urgell, and Solsonès.
The highest temperature was recorded in Vallfogona de Balaguer (Noguera), reaching 23.4 °C. This figure is one degree higher than the previous record from 2023. In Tàrrega, the capital of Urgell, the temperature hit 22.9 °C.
