During his stay in the capital of La Noguera, the minister was received by the mayor and members of the municipal corporation. The visit included the traditional signing of the city's golden book, followed by a meeting with the local government team to discuss various matters of interest.
Subsequently, the minister traveled to the Balaguer Courts, where he highlighted the effectiveness of the new organizational model for addressing gender violence. This system integrates the judicial districts of Lleida, Balaguer, and Cervera under a single specialized structure, seeking a more coordinated and efficient response.
“"This reorganization caused legitimate concern among legal and judicial professionals, especially regarding the possibility that victims might have to travel outside their municipality to testify."
Despite initial concerns about victim travel, the minister assured that all victims have so far been able to appear telematically from their nearest facilities. This solution has maintained accessibility and protection for those affected.
Within the framework of the meeting with the Paeria, other relevant topics were also addressed, such as community service work, mediation, and democratic memory policies. Regarding the general situation of the Balaguer courts, the minister indicated that workloads are slightly above the module, but within manageable parameters and far from the saturation levels of other judicial districts in the country.
