A motorcyclist died this Tuesday morning, March 17th, following a head-on collision with a truck on the C-1412a highway in Ponts, located in the Noguera region.

The Catalan Transit Service reported that emergency services were alerted at 9:41 AM regarding the crash at kilometer 2.6. For reasons still being investigated, the motorcycle and the truck collided head-on, resulting in the immediate death of the motorcycle's sole occupant. Both vehicles caught fire shortly after the impact.
Seven Firefighters of the Generalitat crews were deployed to extinguish the flames and manage a fuel leak from the truck's tank. The response also included five Mossos d'Esquadra police patrols, a medical helicopter, and two SEM ambulances. The road has been closed to traffic in both directions.
Since the beginning of 2026, 20 people have lost their lives on Catalan roads, nine of whom were motorcyclists. This group remains the most affected by road fatalities. Today alone, two people have died in separate traffic accidents across Catalonia.
