Farmers in Balaguer have reported that the high flow of the Segre River in the Horta d'Amunt area has washed away more than 400 cubic meters of agricultural land over the past few weeks.

The affected landowners state that following the drought, recent episodes of increased water levels have caused the river to gain ground, leading to the disappearance of parts of their estates. They have repeatedly asked the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation (CHE) for measures to prevent the water from directly eroding their fields.

"Years ago a breakwater was built, but instead of removing the water, it diverts it all towards this point and every day a piece of land disappears."
