The Lleida Court concluded on Thursday the trial of a man accused of attempting to kill his partner in Artesa de Segre in November 2022.

The prosecution is seeking an 18-year prison sentence for attempted murder and arson. They argue the defendant doused the victim with flammable liquids before setting her on fire. Witnesses from the Noguera region described the man's indifferent behavior during the fire, while the victim's testimony has remained consistent throughout the process.

"I am very sorry for what happened and I would like to ask for forgiveness from anyone I may have hurt, especially her."

The defense has requested a reduced sentence of 5 years, claiming the fire was accidental and influenced by drug use. The case is now awaiting a final verdict from the court in Lleida.
