The European Roller has successfully established a breeding ground in Osona, marking a milestone for this threatened migratory bird through a specialized conservation project in Catalonia.

The species, Coracias garrulus, has seen a positive trend thanks to the Coracias Project. In Osona, two pairs successfully raised nine chicks in 2024, expanding the bird's territory beyond its traditional strongholds in the Empordà region.
By installing nesting boxes on Endesa's electricity towers, conservationists provide safe havens that mimic old trees. This initiative is crucial for a species listed as endangered in Spain, helping to stabilize its population across the Catalan landscape.
