Five teenagers aged between 14 and 18 died this Tuesday in Manlleu after being trapped in a fire that broke out in a rooftop storage unit.

The incident took place in a residential building on Montseny Street. Emergency services extinguished the blaze at 21:41, but the victims were unable to escape the flames. Five other individuals sustained minor injuries during the tragic event in the Osona region.
The storage room was being used as a social gathering point and contained sofas and mattresses, although it was not authorized as a living space. At least three of the deceased were students at the Antoni Pous high school, which has suspended classes to provide psychological support.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire, which is believed to be accidental. While the interior of the rooftop units was destroyed, municipal experts confirmed the building suffered no structural damage, allowing residents to return home.
