Five teenagers died on Monday night during a fire in a storage room located on the rooftop of a building in Manlleu, near Barcelona, which was used as a social gathering spot.

The Catalan Fire Department responded to the call at 9:10 PM at a building on Montseny street. Although initial reports suggested the space was being used as housing, Mossos d'Esquadra later confirmed it was a meeting point for the youths. Five other people were treated for minor injuries by the SEM emergency services.
Forensic teams are working this Tuesday to identify the victims, as some bodies were badly burned. Preliminary investigations by the Mossos suggest the fire was accidental in nature.
