The fire started shortly after 4 PM, at 4:12 PM, between the municipalities of Aiguamúrcia (Alt Camp) and Sant Jaume dels Domenys (Baix Penedès). The Generalitat Firefighters are working on the ground with about twenty units, mostly terrestrial, and one aerial, to control a fire described as "high intensity".
Due to the flames, roads T-244 in Aiguamúrcia and TP-2442 in Montmell, at the junction with TV-2443, have been closed, as reported by the Servei Català de Trànsit.
Civil Protection has ordered the confinement of the populations of Pla de Manlleu, Pontons, Pinedes Altes de Montmell, Valldossera, as well as isolated houses in Aiguamúrcia and nearby areas. This measure affects around 1,600 people, who are advised to close doors and windows and follow the authorities' instructions.
According to provisional data from the Rural Agents, the fire affects an approximate area of 25 hectares, 87% of which is forest land and 12% agricultural land. Initial estimates from the Rural Agents indicate that over 68 hectares have already been burned. The emergency number 112 has received nearly 400 calls related to the incident.
The Firefighters have explained that they prioritize tasks in fires where they have the greatest capacity for action, such as those in Gavà and Navarcles, with the intention of allocating more resources to the Pla de Manlleu fire once those evolve favorably.
