Five young students died this Monday night in Manlleu after a fire broke out in a rooftop storage room used as a social gathering spot.

The victims were students at the Antoni Pous i Argila Institute, where classes were suspended to provide emotional support to grieving classmates. The SEM emergency services and the Department of Education have deployed specialized teams to help the community process the loss of the five teenagers, who belonged to the local Maghreb community in the l'Erm neighborhood.
Preliminary reports suggest the victims died from smoke inhalation in a small space without electricity or ventilation. Mayor Arnau Rovira announced three days of official mourning, while President Salvador Illa is expected to attend a memorial service in the town to honor the victims of the Osona tragedy.
