The Diputació de Barcelona and the town councils of Vic, Riuprimer, and Muntanyola have agreed on new mobility measures for the works on the BV-4316 road and Sentfores-La Guixa's Carrer Major, with a provisional diversion set to begin in late November.

Works to consolidate the single-lane section of the BV-4316 road and Sentfores-La Guixa's Carrer Major will commence in late November. Initially, a provisional diversion will be implemented via El Pujolar and Carrer de les Escoles to allow traffic flow between Santa Eulàlia de Riuprimer and Vic. This alternative route, currently operating with traffic lights, will remain in place until February, when Carrer Major is scheduled to be closed for the main construction.
This provisional diversion solution resulted from objections filed by Muntanyola and Riuprimer, who deemed the initial proposal by the Diputació and Vic to route traffic through Muntanyola as unfeasible. The new route via El Pujolar and Carrer de les Escoles, also controlled by traffic lights and limited to approximately 30 km/h, will be in effect for the estimated 12 months of construction, likely until February 2027.
Santa Eulàlia and Muntanyola have proposed considering this provisional diversion as the future permanent bypass, thereby avoiding the costs and potential environmental impacts of a new infrastructure outside the town. While Vic dismisses the Camí de la Vila, the route via the old Camí Ral is being studied. However, a definitive solution might involve an external bypass, as Vic has committed to dismantling the provisional passage once the works are completed.
The approximate cost of the works, already awarded, is close to 2 million euros. Despite the expectation that around 3,000 vehicles daily will continue to use Carrer Major, the municipalities of Riuprimer and Muntanyola believe that the external bypass should have been prioritized to divert traffic from the town center before pedestrianizing Carrer Major.
Furthermore, the Generalitat and the Vic City Council have agreed to improve the lateral access lane to the C-17 from Muntanyola, Riuprimer, and Sentfores-La Guixa towards Tona and Barcelona. This much-needed repair of the road surface will be carried out soon and will significantly enhance local mobility.
