The Government of Catalonia will allocate 4 million euros to the renovation and modernization of the multi-product waste treatment and transfer plant in Vic, managed by the Consortium for the management of urban waste in Osona.

This subsidy will allow for the renovation and modernization of the equipment in this facility, which has increased its capacity and many of its elements require urgent renewal to prevent increased downtime, loss of separation efficiency, decreased quality of recovered bales, and excessive maintenance costs.
New regulatory requirements and European recycling targets demand that sorting plants increase recovery rates and minimize waste generated. This necessitates the replacement or incorporation of new technological equipment to ensure the continuity of the classification operation and improve the process.
With this action, the sorting plant will achieve a capacity of 14,000 tons per year (over two shifts), and the transfer station will handle 20,000 tons per year of residual waste and 10,000 tons per year of separately collected organic waste.
The Osona multi-product sorting plant is an essential infrastructure for meeting regional recycling objectives and for the proper functioning of the selective collection system. The facility annually processes waste from the multi-product fraction (light packaging and mixed paper/cardboard), carrying out fundamental sorting operations to ensure maximum recovery of recyclable materials.
The transfer station handles the residual waste and organic fraction to optimize waste transport to the Municipal Waste Treatment Centre of Osona and Ripollès (CTR) located in Orís.
