The Vic University Hospital has been honored at the Corresponsables Awards for its 'Without Losing the Smile' project, an initiative aimed at humanizing care for children and their families during their hospital stay.

The 'Without Losing the Smile' project at the Vic University Hospital has received recognition at the Corresponsables Awards, accolades that distinguish the best initiatives in Social Responsibility and Sustainability. This project promotes kinder and more approachable care for children and their families.
The Corresponsables Awards, now in their seventeenth edition, are a benchmark in the field, having evaluated over 10,000 projects from various companies by a jury of around a hundred academics. The award ceremony took place this Tuesday in Barcelona, as part of the XVII edition of the awards. Representing the hospital, Íngrid Casasús, Director of Citizen Strategy and Communication, and Dr. Raquel Perarnau from the Anesthesiology, Resuscitation, and Pain Treatment Service, accepted the award.
The 'Without Losing the Smile' project was created to support children and their families, offering tools and resources to make their hospital experience more confident, understanding, and tranquil, especially in situations that may cause fear or uncertainty, such as surgery. It is part of the Cercle SiS, CHV-FHSC's commitment to humanization as a key element of healthcare quality.
Over the years, the initiative has driven various actions, including the solidarity campaign 'La Mona dels Somriures' with chocolatier Lluc Crusellas, the adaptation of pediatric spaces to make them more welcoming, the creation of a virtual reality video of surgical facilities in collaboration with Nixi for Children, and the illustrated story 'Han d'operar a l'Aran' with Pilarín Bayés. It has also benefited from the collaboration of entities and companies from the region such as Casa Tarradellas and Artyplan.
'Without Losing the Smile' is the result of the joint work of the medical and nursing teams in pediatrics and anesthesia, along with Patient Experience and Citizenship and Partnership and Brand, as well as committed entities and individuals. The shared goal is for children to feel safer and more supported during their hospital stay. The project continues to welcome new contributions via cerclesis.cat/posaelcor/somriures/.
With this award, the Cercle SiS, CHV-FHSC, reaffirms its commitment to person-centered care, looking after not only the health of children but also their experience and feelings during their time in the hospital.
