The incident occurred at 10:14 AM on Avinguda de l'Estació, in the urban center of La Pobla de Segur. An emergency operation was immediately activated, involving four units from the Bombers de la Generalitat (Catalan Firefighters), units from the Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) (Medical Emergency System), and officers from the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan Police) to manage the situation and control traffic.
Upon arrival, the Bombers confirmed that the driver was trapped inside the overturned vehicle. To ensure a safe extraction, a extrication maneuver was performed, which involved dismantling the car's roof to rescue the victim with maximum safety.
Once rescued, the man was attended to by SEM personnel. Despite the dramatic nature of the accident and the driver's advanced age, initial reports indicate that his injuries are minor.
After medical attention, the Bombers concluded their service by clearing the roadway of glass debris and liquids to restore normal traffic flow on the C-13. The causes that led to the vehicle losing control and overturning are still unknown.
