The Castell de Mur Town Council has completed the rehabilitation works of the Sant Feliu hermitage, a key heritage element of the municipality, thanks to a grant from the Department of Culture and support from the Diputació de Lleida.

This intervention has allowed for the recovery of a space of great historical, architectural, and scenic value that was in an advanced state of deterioration. The main objective has been to halt the progressive degradation of the church's remains, which were exposed to adverse weather conditions and presented an imminent risk of structural collapse.
The hermitage suffered severe damage, including the complete collapse of one of its side walls, significant damage to the apse, the disappearance of the roof, and the deterioration of the access door. The project involved a comprehensive approach to consolidation, recovery, and enhancement of this architectural element, classified as a Local Cultural Asset (BCIL).
The executed works included the reconstruction of damaged sections, the recovery of the apse, the restoration of the roof, and other complementary tasks to ensure the stability and future conservation of the complex. The rehabilitation had a total cost of 90,149 euros.
The Sant Feliu hermitage is located in a privileged setting, dominating the landscape from a ridge, a few meters from the cliff and protected by a group of oak trees. This location, close to the Guàrdia Castle and the Mur Castle, reinforces its heritage value and makes it an additional attraction for the walking route connecting both fortifications.
To celebrate the recovery, the Castell de Mur Town Council has organized a reopening event on Friday, May 1st, starting at 10 AM. During the day, the project director will explain the actions carried out, and a professor of archaeology will offer an explanation of the hermitage's historical context and its importance in the municipality's evolution. All residents and those interested in the heritage of Pallars Jussà are invited to participate in this special day.
