The works brigade of the Alt Pirineu Natural Park has completed the improvement of the bridge located on the Areste stream, a key crossing at the start of the path leading to Pica d'Estats.

This intervention, driven by the Alt Pirineu Natural Park, primarily aims to enhance the safety of visitors climbing to the highest peak in Catalonia. Furthermore, the improvement facilitates the passage of the all-terrain vehicle (ATV) used for supplying the Vallferrera refuge.
The Areste stream is situated in high mountain terrain, within the Vallferrera Valley, in the municipality of Alins, in Pallars Sobirà. This watercourse collects the waters from Estany d'Areste, a glacial lake at an altitude of 2,396 meters, and flows into the Noguera de Vallferrera river.
