The Territory Department has closed the C-28 highway between Baqueira and the Bonaigua Pass after a 60-meter-long retaining wall collapsed on Wednesday night.

The incident affected a wall section eight meters high. Technicians have detected rock movement in adjacent areas, leading to a total traffic ban for safety reasons. Authorities are investigating the causes in an area currently covered in snow.
Skiers arriving from Pallars can still access the Peülla or Bonaigua parking lots, while those from Val d'Aran must stay in Baqueira or Beret. The closure prevents direct transit between the two regions over the mountain pass.
Drivers traveling between Pallars Sobirà and Aran must take a long detour through Pallars Jussà and Alta Ribagorça. Despite warning signs in towns like Sort and Esterri d'Àneu, many drivers are still reaching the closure point.
The Government of Catalonia expects to open a safe alternative passage during next week, once the area affected by the landslide has been secured.
