The Diputació de Lleida has approved a two-million-euro investment for the adaptation of the venues that will host the 2027 Wildwater Canoeing World Championships in Sort and La Seu d'Urgell.
This decision was made during the constitution of the organizing committee for the World Championships, held at the High Performance Center (CAR) in Sant Cugat del Vallès, with the presence of deputies Òscar Martínez and Josep Ramon Fondevilla.

"From the Diputació de Lleida, we assume this project as a strategic commitment to the territory, providing economic and institutional support to a top-level event that leaves a real legacy in the form of infrastructure, sports activity, and international projection."
Deputy Martínez emphasized that the goal of the contribution, which is divided into one million euros for each Pyrenean capital, is not only to organize the competition but to ensure that the facilities remain prepared for the future and continue generating opportunities.

"Hosting a competition of this magnitude places Sort and the whole of Pallars Sobirà on the international map of wildwater sports, with a direct positive impact on the local economy, tourism, and the projection of the territory."
The 2027 Wildwater Canoeing World Championships will be held equally between Sort (Pallars Sobirà) and La Seu d’Urgell, two venues with a long history linked to canoeing and water sports.
