A hiker from Torelló died this Tuesday at Vall d'Hebron Hospital in Barcelona after being rescued from an avalanche in Pallars Sobirà on Monday.

The incident occurred between coll de Bassiero and Estany Gelat. The victim was trapped under the snow shortly after 2:00 PM on Monday. His companion, who was uninjured, managed to alert emergency services immediately.
Rescue teams from the Bombers de la Generalitat, SEM, and Pompièrs d'Aran collaborated in the operation. Despite being airlifted to the hospital for specialized care, the man eventually succumbed to his injuries.
