The mountain resorts of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) have reached unprecedented visitor numbers this winter of 2026 due to historic snowfall in the Pyrenees.

The current season has been boosted by snow accumulations not seen in a decade. According to data provided by the entity, snow depths have exceeded 5 meters in Boí Taüll, 4 meters in Espot, and 3 meters in Port Ainé.
This abundance of snow has attracted a massive influx of athletes. The peak was recorded on the weekend of February 21 and 22, with more than 20,000 daily skiers across the network's six complexes.
Locally, Port Ainé set a record on February 21 with 3,368 skiers, while Boí Taüll received 4,123 visitors on the same day. Currently, overall attendance is 20% higher than last year.
