Intense snowfall registered on Saturday, January 24, 2026, forced the closure of the Port Ainé ski resort and the upper part of Espot, both in Pallars Sobirà, complicating traffic on more than 30 routes.

The most critical situation occurred at the resorts in Pallars Sobirà. At Port Ainé, the main access road became completely impassable due to snow accumulation, leading to a total closure. At the Espot resort, although the lower section remained operational, access strictly required the use of snow chains.
The snow episode was notable for dropping to lower altitudes, affecting numerous municipalities in the Pla de Lleida region during Saturday morning. This situation generated warnings and restrictions on more than 30 points of the road network, both in the Pyrenees and the plain, where chains were mandatory.
Among the most significant disruptions, a warning for snow and ice was issued on the AP-2 motorway, specifically between l'Albi and l'Espluga de Francolí. Furthermore, the use of chains was mandatory on several secondary roads, including the C-12 at Àger, the C-1311 at Tremp, the C-1412b at Isona, the L-214 at Cervera, and the L-243 at Montoliu de Segarra.
