Intense snowfall on January 24, 2026, forced the closure of the Port Ainé ski resort and the upper section of Espot, both in Pallars Sobirà, complicating traffic on more than 30 routes.

The main problem at the Port Ainé resort is the access road, which became impassable due to snow accumulation. At the Espot resort, access remains possible, but the use of snow chains is mandatory for all vehicles.
In addition to high mountain areas, the snow level dropped, affecting municipalities in Segarra, Noguera, and Les Garrigues, although with less intensity.
By midday, the situation had complicated traffic on over 30 roads across the Pyrenees and the plains, making the use of chains mandatory in most instances. An alert remains active for snow and ice on the AP-2 motorway between L'Albi and L'Espluga de Francolí.
Chains are also required on the C-12 in Àger, the C-1311 in Tremp, the C-1412b in Isona, the L-214 in Cervera, and the L-243 in Montoliu de Segarra, according to the Catalan Traffic Service.
