The Els Til·lers cinema-theater in Sort will host the screening of the film Frontera this Saturday, presented by its director, Judith Colell, concluding the Memory Conference.

The Els Til·lers cinema-theater in Sort will be the venue, this Saturday at 7 PM, for the screening of Frontera, one of the central and closing events of the 3rd Border Memory Conference (Jornades de Memòria de Frontera). The event will feature the presence of its director, Judith Colell, who will present the feature film to the audience in Pallars.
The premiere carries a special emotional significance for the territory, as a large part of the production was filmed in late 2024 in Pallars Sobirà. For six weeks, the landscapes of the region served as a natural backdrop for this story. Frontera is a historical thriller inspired by real events, scripted by Miguel Ibáñez and Gerard Giménez, which narrates the bravery of a group of people who helped Jewish citizens flee Nazi repression through the Pyrenees.
With eight nominations, including Best Film, Frontera is one of the favorites for the upcoming Gaudí Awards, which will be held at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona on February 8. The film, successfully premiered last December 12, features a stellar cast led by Miki Esparbé, Maria Rodríguez Soto, Asier Etxeandia, Bruna Cusí, and Jordi Sánchez, joined by international actors Kevin Janssens and Joren Seldeslachts.
The plot is set in 1943, when the Franco regime blocked the passage of refugees. At a border customs office, Manel Grau, an official with a republican past, decides to disobey orders with the help of Juliana, a local resident, and Jérôme, a French smuggler. The production was handled by Coming Soon Films, Diagonal (Banijay Iberia), and Bulletproof Cupid, consolidating a commitment to bringing key episodes of recent Catalan history to the big screen.
