The Sort Town Council has approved the tender for the management of the municipal slaughterhouse and a new cutting plant, a key facility for the Pallars Sobirà agri-food sector.

The municipal plenary session held on February 10 approved a new management model designed to promote a circular economy. This infrastructure is vital following the closure of slaughterhouses in La Seu d'Urgell and Pallars Jussà.
The project received over 300,000 euros in investment, supported by the Department of Territory and the Department of Agriculture, led by Òscar Ordeig. The facility is expected to be operational within two months.
The new cutting plant will enable local farmers to process and market their products directly, ensuring the viability of rural farms in the Pyrenees.
