The Generalitat Firefighters have been working since this Friday morning to extinguish a forest fire declared in the Serra de Roques Codolles, within the municipality of Farrera.

The fire alert was received at 10:45 AM. The blaze affects an area of scrubland and forest vegetation located on difficult-to-access terrain, which has forced the mobilization of a large emergency response. According to initial reports, the fire has followed an upward progression towards the ridge.
The extinction operation includes 14 ground crews and 8 aerial units, which have been key to fighting the flames from the start due to the terrain's topography. The operation also involved GRAF units, which were heli-transported to work with manual tools, as well as surveillance aircraft.
By early afternoon, the affected perimeter was estimated at around 8 hectares. Although the exact causes of the incident are under investigation, authorities point to a lightning strike as a possible origin, coinciding with the presence of electrical storms in the area.
