The Mollerussa City Council has presented its municipal budget for 2026, amounting to 19,697,413 euros, with a clear commitment to investments in public spaces and citizen services, despite a slight reduction compared to the previous year.

The budgetary figure for the next fiscal year represents a decrease of 4.1% compared to the 2025 budget. Of the total, 2.6 million euros are planned for investments, accounting for 13.5% of the overall budget. These investments will focus on comprehensive actions in public spaces throughout the municipality, as well as on citizen care and the promotion of the local socioeconomic fabric.

"The 2026 budget cannot be understood without considering that of 2025, which was historic, with an initial amount of 20.5 million euros and which incorporated an ambitious investment plan of 2 million euros financed by credit operations."

This strategy implies that the City Council will have to assume a higher debt amortization during the current year, with an approximate increase of 745,000 euros compared to the previous year. However, this additional financial burden is considered a temporary effort that will allow a significant reduction in financial expenditure from 2027, once the sanitation plan is completed, with an estimated saving of 600,000 euros annually. The debt ratio, which stood at almost 54% at the beginning of the mandate in 2023, is expected to fall to 39% by the end of this year.
Among the highlighted investments, two important actions are included. One of them, linked to the PUOSC, with an amount exceeding 400,000 euros, will be allocated to improvements in public spaces and gardening, with a comprehensive review of all the city's trees. The second investment, of 180,000 euros, will be allocated to the improvement of sports facilities, such as the renovation of the parquet, changing rooms, lighting, and the expansion of the stands, partially financed by a grant from the Catalan Sports Council.
The budget will be adjusted throughout 2026 through credit modifications to adapt to the municipality's needs. Furthermore, the council has already prepared the 2027 budget, with the intention of approving it in November to ensure the operability of all items from the beginning of the year. The areas with the largest budgetary allocation for the current year are education, general administration, security, road cleaning, and environment.
