The cemetery in Mollerussa has taken a step towards digitization with the integration of the Imemorial platform. This initiative, presented yesterday by the city council, aims to modernize the management of the funerary site and offer new tools to preserve the memory of the deceased. The capital of Pla d'Urgell thus becomes the first municipality in the province of Lleida to pilot a comprehensive solution that combines grave location, electronic cemetery management, and the creation of personalized digital memorials.
Mayor Marc Solsona explained that, while other cities like Lleida already have tools to find deceased individuals, Imemorial stands out for its ability to associate each person with a virtual commemorative space. The project is currently in a testing phase to identify potential issues and implement improvements before its final rollout, aiming for a more complete and efficient service.
The platform distinguishes between public use, which will facilitate grave location via QR codes placed at the entrance and key points of the cemetery, and a private option for families. The latter will be able to contract a personalized QR code for the tombstone, granting access to a digital space with photographs, videos, biographies, dedications, and other personal and family memories.
“"The platform aims to facilitate the location of deceased individuals within the cemetery and offer municipalities a modern, efficient, and up-to-date management tool."
Xavier Nabau, manager of Imemorial, emphasized that the solution simplifies the location of the deceased and provides councils with an updated management tool. Meanwhile, Marc Castañé, a technician from the company, highlighted the platform's blend of municipal management with an emotional dimension for families. Imemorial also includes information on complementary funeral services, such as florists and other support professionals.
