The supermarket chain Mercadona acquired more than 9.5 million kilograms of apples from Lleida during 2025, through agreements with specialized suppliers such as Nufresco and Catafruit.

The purchase of over 9.5 million kilograms of apples from Lleida by Mercadona during 2025 originated from fields located in municipalities such as Albesa, Barbens, Gerb, Gotarta, La Fuliola, and Mollerussa. This operation is part of the company's agreements with specialist suppliers Nufresco (based in Mollerussa) and Catafruit (in La Portella).
Mercadona offers its customers various apple varieties, highlighting the Golden and Granny, which remain on the shelves throughout the twelve months of the year, approximately from September until the beginning of the following autumn.
Other varieties completing the offer include Tutti, Royal Gala, and Fuji. The campaign for the Tutti apple starts in May and ends in July, while the Royal Gala is harvested from August until the end of December. The Fuji campaign, meanwhile, began last November and will run until the following February.
In addition to the production from Lleida, the supermarket chain also acquired a significant volume of apples from the Girona province, totaling 11.6 million kilograms. These crops come from Girona localities such as Bordils, Castelló d’Empúries, Gualta, Fontanilles, Sant Pere Pescador, Torroella de Fluvià, Ullà, and Vilamacolum.
