The resolution, defended by the Lleida deputy Marta Vilalta before the Education and Vocational Training Commission, calls for urgent action to adapt the center to the real schooling needs. In addition to expansion, it demands the planning of a comprehensive, long-term facility reform.
A key demand, shared by the management team and the AFA (Parents' Association), is the immediate start of works to guarantee accessibility, including the installation of an elevator. The institute, built in 1980, has become a reference center in the Pla d'Urgell region.
Vilalta pointed out that the center currently enrolls over 500 students, despite being initially designed for about 300. This overcapacity has forced the conversion of spaces such as music or art classrooms and the dining hall into regular classrooms, causing daily operational difficulties.
Although specific actions have been carried out in recent years to alleviate the situation, such as the installation of prefabricated modules, the deputy warned that these measures have not solved the structural problem. The final text incorporated amendments from Junts and the PSC to build consensus.
