Two men, aged 35 and 25, were arrested on Monday in Mollerussa on multiple charges after violently assaulting and evicting a tenant from a room on April 5.

The Mossos d'Esquadra proceeded with the arrest of the two individuals, who are accused of assault, illegal detention, threats, coercion, and home invasion. The incident took place at a residence on Ferrer i Busquets street in Mollerussa, where the owner rented out rooms.
According to the investigation, around midnight on April 5, a group of people accessed the apartment and entered one of the tenant's rooms while he was sleeping. The assailants pounced on the victim, attempting to immobilize him. Despite the surprise, the man resisted, and one of the attackers struck him with the handle of a knife, causing cuts to his hands and several blows to his head and face.

"Thanks to the violence they exerted, the assailants managed to immobilize the man and forced him to give them his mobile phone and unlock it to delete a series of conversations he had had with the apartment owner, with whom he also had a working relationship."

Following the assault, the assailants expelled the victim from the apartment, threatening him with death, took his keys, and left him injured in the street. Police units arriving at the scene ensured medical assistance and transported the man to the hospital. At that time, the apartment was already locked and empty.
The victim was able to identify the apartment owner as the alleged leader of the action and a relative of his among the four or five people who participated in the assault. Police suspect the objective was to evict him from the apartment and delete messages where the victim was demanding money for work performed in the livestock sector, of which he had only received a small portion.
Investigators confirmed that the owner had previously evicted a couple living in another room in the same apartment. The investigation remains open to identify the other participants in the assault. The detainees, both with prior records, will soon appear before the Investigating Court on duty in Lleida.
