The municipal group Esquerra-Som Banyoles has requested the local government to review the decision to transfer a plot currently used as a parking lot in the Farga neighborhood for public housing.

The political group expressed its disagreement with the proposal announced during the July plenary session, which plans to make the land located between Girona and Barcelona streets available to the Generalitat de Catalunya. According to the group, this area already has a high population density and complex urban conditions that require comprehensive intervention before increasing the residential load.
The municipal group argues that, although increasing protected housing is a priority, criteria of territorial equity must be applied. Their proposal consists of distributing new developments among the different neighborhoods of Banyoles to promote social cohesion and avoid the concentration of large buildings in specific parts of the city.
In addition to housing, the group highlighted the need to improve public space, accessibility, and facilities in Farga. The group believes that current urban planning already includes other alternative spaces that could be transferred to the regional administration for these projects, thus allowing for more balanced development of the municipality.
