The Catalan Waste Agency granted 40,753.94 euros to the Waste Management Consortium of Ribera d’Ebre, Priorat, and Terra Alta on January 8th to acquire new vehicles for selective organic waste collection.

The financial aid, granted by the Agència de Residus de Catalunya (ARC), is part of a call financed by Next Generation European funds. This investment of 40,753.94 euros is specifically intended for the purchase of vehicles to improve the selective collection of the organic fraction across the three counties.
This line of subsidies aims to promote more efficient municipal waste management models and increase recycling rates. In total, the ARC has distributed over 3.6 million euros among 23 municipalities and supra-municipal entities throughout Catalonia, with the Consortium being the only beneficiary within the Terres de l'Ebre area.
To qualify for these funds, local entities had to demonstrate that they had implemented an efficient organic fraction collection system covering at least 50% of the population in their territory. The subsidy can cover up to 90% of the vehicle cost, with a maximum of 200,000 euros for zero-emission vehicles.
With this contribution, the Waste Consortium of Ribera d’Ebre, Priorat, and Terra Alta will be able to strengthen its technical resources. This improvement is key to advancing towards more sustainable waste management and boosting the circular economy in the region.
