The DO Montsant has successfully concluded its first commercial mission in Mexico and Costa Rica, aiming to consolidate its international expansion and open new export channels.

The wine designation of origin Montsant has successfully completed its first official commercial prospecting mission in Latin America. The objective was to strengthen its international expansion and establish new export channels in markets such as Mexico and Costa Rica, where its presence was limited.
A delegation, led by the denomination's president, Pilar Just, carried out an intensive agenda between May 10th and 17th. This included commercial meetings, institutional encounters, and technical visits to promote the wines of DO Montsant.
Representatives from eleven wineries participated in the mission: Coca i Fitó, Celler Capçanes, Cooperativa Falset-Marçà, Estones Vins, Cellers Unió, Dosterras, Celler Masroig, Celler Laurona, Cellers Sant Rafel, Celler de l’Era, and Vinyes Domènech.
According to Pilar Just, the outcome is "very positive," as "commercial and institutional relationships have been established that will guarantee the future positioning" of DO Montsant in these countries.
The expedition visited three strategic cities. In Mexico City, bilateral meetings with importers were held at the Hotel Marriott Reforma. In Guadalajara, growth opportunities were identified during business meetings at the AC Hotel by Marriott. The mission concluded in San José, with business meetings and visits to the local Chamber of Commerce.
The B2B Commercial Director of Cooperativa Falset-Marçà, Núria Vernis, highlighted that the experience provided wineries with "a broader and more direct view of the market and its opportunities."
This initiative is part of the denomination's internationalization strategy, which already has a consolidated presence in Europe, North America, and Asia. DO Montsant aims to reinforce the positioning of its wines as products linked to the territory, identity, and quality.
In parallel, the denomination is celebrating its 25th anniversary with various activities in Catalonia, including two wine-pairing dinners scheduled for May 22nd and 29th in Falset.
