A 50-year-old Swiss national has been arrested in Riba-roja d'Ebre as the alleged perpetrator of his partner's death, whose body was found in the garden of their shared home in Switzerland.

Swiss authorities launched an investigation in early 2026 after the victim's relatives reported her missing. Police investigation suggests the detainee fled to Spain, settling on an isolated and difficult-to-access property in the Ribera d'Ebre region, while the victim never moved with him.
After locating the suspect's property, a police surveillance operation began. Suspecting the woman was deceased, simultaneous searches were conducted in Spain and Switzerland.
The arrest occurred on April 28 during the search of his current residence. At the time of detention, the man provided information regarding the exact location of the missing person's remains. Subsequent forensic analysis has not yet determined the specific cause of death.
