The town of Móra d'Ebre has officially rejoined the Association of Municipalities in Nuclear Power Plant Areas (AMAC) this February 2026, ending a six-year period outside the organization.

The municipality hosted the Ascó-Vandellòs zone meeting, the first gathering held in the capital of Ribera d'Ebre since its return. Local leaders met to discuss the socio-economic challenges posed by the scheduled decommissioning of nuclear plants and the search for new energy alternatives.

"This return opens a new space for coordination with other nuclear municipalities and will allow us to defend our territory's interests more strongly."

Rubén Biarnés · Mayor of Móra d'Ebre
AMAC President Juan Pedro Sánchez welcomed the town back, emphasizing the association's role in ensuring nuclear safety and helping local councils secure funding for economic diversification and job creation in the region.
