Speed restrictions on the Catalan railway network will affect 191 kilometers starting Monday

The increase is mainly due to the unification of restrictions, including the 72 km section between Riba-roja d'Ebre and Reus.

The Catalan railway network will face 191 kilometers of Temporary Speed Limitations starting next Monday, 61 km more than the previous week, according to the Adif document.

The total of 191 kilometers is distributed across 183 sections throughout Catalonia. The largest restriction, 72 kilometers long, is on the R15 line between Riba-roja d'Ebre and Reus, where the maximum speed is 30 km/h due to track conditions and Adif works. Renfe has already established road transport for passengers on this route.
The increase in affected kilometers (61 km more) is partly due to the unification of several incidents into a single Temporary Speed Limitation (LTV). For instance, the Riba-roja d'Ebre-Reus section previously consisted of seventeen different sections but is now referenced as a single limitation.
A similar situation occurs on the R1 and RG1 lines, between Maçanet-Massanes and Blanes, where a single 13.4 km restriction replaces two previous limitations. Works are also starting on the R4 between l'Arboç and Sant Sadurní d'Anoia.

"The network as a whole will be 'practically' operational in two weeks, and all temporary speed limitations will have been eliminated by April."

José Antonio Santano · Secretary of State for Transport
By province, Barcelona will accumulate the most LTV sections with 96, followed by Tarragona with 43. Girona increases from 28 to 33 sections, while Lleida rises from eight to eleven. Some of these restrictions have been in place for years, with fourteen sections having been affected for at least eight years.
